Pirates Series–Sorry About Your Luck, Bucs

It figures that the Cubs would play spoiler against the team that we were rooting for to win the Central, but as Cubs fans first and foremost, a sweep is always nice.

And a four game sweep brings the party, you know what we mean?

-The Cubs home run derby: Colvin, Ramirez, Soto, Soriano (twice), and Byrd going the distance in one game. Geo, Pena, and Blake DeWitt (the farthest shot) going yard in another. And let us not forget Castro’s lone home run that gave Matt Garza a win.

-Speaking of home runs, Big Z’s reaction to Derrick Lee’s bomb was pretty classic.

-Garza, Marshall, and Marmol combining for a four hit shut out.

-Cashner back with the team.

-The Pirates Parrot trying to shoot hot dogs to Len and Bob in the booth…and shooting them out of the stadium.

-Soriano shocking everyone by running out a ground ball to first and avoiding a double play.

-Putting a cup on Tim Buss’s hat. We didn’t see who did it, but our guess are Ryan Dempster, Koyie Hill, or some combination of the two.

-Pieing Byrd in celebration of his 1,000th career hit. Well done, Geo.

-The overall playful attitude in the dugout. We’re glad to see the babies having fun.
