Phillies Series–We Were Phailing Along…

This series started out great. Cubs got to Halliday early and they ended up scoring 6 before all was said and done. That carried over to the next game in a way, scoring runs and keeping the Phils shut out, until Sean Marshall blew the save and took the loss. Say what you want, Mike Quade, but that was the turning point, not Castro’s missed play in the first inning of the final game. That was some rotten mojo to be taking into a hot day game.

Was there any fun? Yeah, a little bit.

We know what this looks like, but the truth is a lot better. And more intense. Much more intense.

-Worley-Byrd. Len and Bob have been waiting for months for that.

-Castro going yard for two. We like it when his power pops up unexpectedly.

-Speaking of power, Pena gets #250 and Rami moves up on the Cubs all-time doubles list.

-Speaking of doubles, Reed Johnson also had a lot of them. In one game. Reed being Reed.

-Lopez pitched well. He’s not looking like such a bad deal lately, now is he? (No one will admit that.)

-Garza with yet another gem. He’s not looking like such a bad deal, either.

-Doug Glanville. Always a good time and he sings a great stretch.

-Len and his Ben Francisco jokes. It made Bob pray for a short at-bat.

-Koyie Hill stole a base. All Hail the Patron Player!
