For the most part, the Cubs played well up until the late innings of the last game (or so I’m told; I was unconcious by sometime in the 7th inning-Kiki). But losing to the Yanks, like losing to the White Sox or the Cardinals, even if you know the odds are your team is going to lose, still lives a lingering bad taste in your mouth no matter how well the team played.
But they did have their moments, and when they have their moments (and when they don’t) we have a good time.
-Reed going deep off of Mariano Rivera. Not an easy thing to do and he did it and we all yelled, “REEEEEEEEEEED!”
-Pat explaining that the seagulls have landed in right field to keep Kosuke company.
-Davis’s gem and his first win as a Cub. Finally.
-Teasing Keith about charging the mound. (“I did other things, you know.”)
-DJ’s first extra base hit. He’s growing up so fast.
-A few really nice defensive plays by Ramirez.
-Billy Corgan in the booth, talking about his grandma taking him to games. Pat’s knowlege of Pink Floyd was also impressive.
-Soriano going yard for three runs. He seems to be picking up where he left off and we appreciate that.
-Scoring three runs on six hits. It may not seem like a big deal, but this is something that rarely happens for the Cubs. This is the kind of fun they need to be having more often.
