Last week I wrote about the plague of injuries inspiring me to open a clinic specializing in Boo Boo Kisses and Get Well Hugs. Apparently, the idea was such an appealing one that players are now clamoring for my services. Baker was transferred to the DL (Welcome to the big time, DJ LeMahieu!), as was Soriano.
In the first two months of the season, the Cubs have had 8 men on the DL at one time or another and at least 3 listed as day-to-day at some point. At one time, the Cubs were down 60% of their rotation (now just 40%) and are currently down 80% of their outfield (Kosuke is the last man standing, so to speak).
Bets are now being taken on Twitter as to who is going to be the next guy on the DL. Five guys in the last ten days. Odds are pretty good that someone is going down.
I think it’s safe to say that the Cubs have been bitten by the injury buy and bitten hard.
