Between the Cubs beating themselves by giving up seven runs in an inning; a two error snowball fight fiasco; and the umps nearly screwing the Cubs by ignoring a pretty clear rule that they should know, the only thing missing from this circus was an elephant.
Well, maybe not all of the elephant, if you catch our drift (and we think you do).
Circuses are supposed to be fun and, crap or not, we had a little.
-Pena and Hill executing a hit and run. First of all, we don’t see much of that. Second of all, nobody expected it from THOSE two.
-Zonk getting the hiccups on the air.
-Castro leap-frogging over Scott Rolen.
-Pena hitting a 3-run homer on his 33rd birthday. We like the way he chose to celebrate.
-Zonk asking Pat to put him out if he ever catches on fire. You had to be there.
-Castro tagging Fred Lewis in the face. Well, it was only fun since he was okay.
-Tony Campana’s debut as a pinch runner. Scoring his first run. Hitting an RBI double in his first at-bat. And his very supportive fan club. Tony Campana was the best part of this series.
