Summer seems to get shorter every year. After a couple of really nice game days in Chicago, the weather went straight back to winter and ended up postponing the rubber game of the series. Sure, they played in crappy weather in a shortened game the night before, but that was different. That was the first Saturday night game since 1998 and on NATIONAL TELEVISION.
We hope all of those guys that played Saturday night got some chicken soup and a warm blanket after that misery.
At least there was a little bit of fun.
-Reed’s fantastic fog catch. Anyone who doesn’t know Reed Johnson would have thought he never had a chance at that ball. We know Reed. We weren’t worried.
-Tom Ricketts putting on a poncho. That’s the kind of highlights you get on NATIONAL TELEVISION.
-Koyie Hill bunting in a run. All Hail the Patron Player!
-The Fox announcers (NATIONAL TELEVISION) continued amazement that people at Wrigley were drinking beer. Yes, the weather was nasty. What does that have to do with beer?
-Scoring five runs in the 8th will never not be fun.
-Keith Moreland on Madison Bumgarner giving his wife a steer as a wedding present: “I’ve met a few guys that have given their wives steers. Nothing wrong with it.” We agree, Zonk. We so agree.
